Tides in the UK Apple Stores

Tides Planner is installed in the iPhones of the UK Apple Stores. If you are going by Regent Street London, Southampton, Exeter and others pop in to have a look.

Bird watching

Tides Planner user Howard plans his birdwatching trips in Scotland using the app. “I use Tides Planner for birdwatching. High tide concentrates the flocks and makes it easier to get close to them…he best thing about Tides Planner from my viewpoint is that I can find tidal information for up to 12 months ahead.”
Happy birdwatching.

Tides v1.7

Tides 2010

We have finished the work to enable tides for 2010 and released the updates to iTunes today – it is version 1.7. Users of Tide Planner Plus can enable tides for 2010 through an In App option. V1.7 also adds a number of enhancements including sunrise/set indicators in the tide graph panel, coefficients for France for 2010 and various time zone indicators.

Some comments from our Tides users:
“… interesting inshore passage which cuts out the long detour around the Violet bank to the S.E. of St. Helier and allows quick access to the east coast of Jersey. … I dialed in next day’s date, added a couple of metres (we draw 1.5m) and set the minimum height cursor at 9.0m. I could immediately see that we could actually make this passage… Really easy!”

“…we have been involved in our Annual Traditional Goose treks… and I can not tell you how pleased that I was to be able to take my iPod with me and accurately time our trips”

“I check the tides to see where to put my chair on the beach and when to launch my kayak in the bay.”

Boat Show and App Store

Our two new apps Marine Boat Maintenance and RYA Racing Rules are now available in the App Store. We are very pleased to have launched the first of a new series with the RYA.

If you are going to Southampton Boat Show go to the RYA or Kelvin Hughes/Imray stands for a demonstration of all the apps.

Hats off to Rob and Pip who created Boat Maintenance, a really useful and beautifully illustrated app for people who use boats, all done without going anywhere near the code.

RYA Racing Rules

The first of a series of apps for the RYA was released to the App Store for approval on 29 Aug. Racing Rules is a quick reference tool for the Racing Rules of Sailing, an application equivalent to the very popular RYA Handy Guide. The text for the Rules Dispute Best Practice from the RYA is also included. Fully referenced against the ISAF Racing Rules.
